The Mining Code, adopted by law 20/2014 of 18 August 2014, regulates the mining and quarrying activities in Mozambique. The Code is available on the official website of the government (http://www.mireme.gov.mz). The official version of the law is in Portuguese and there are no official translations of this law into other languages. The government entity responsible to attribute licences is the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy and all the mining contracts must have the Government as shareholder. Some of the country’s mining contracts are available at resourcecontracts.org.
